X Austin Completes IronRhino Launch
Working Task Force of Nine Austin Firms Creates Marketing Campaign for
Fortune 500 Spin-up; Collaborative Model Saves Time, Resources AUSTIN,
Texas – February 10, 2003 – Brand X Austin, a sales and marketing services
network, today launched a new national client, IronRhino. IronRhino is a
business unit of Dana Corporation, a $10 billion manufacturer in the global
automotive, commercial and off-highway markets. Bringing together services from
nine separate entities, Brand X Austin was able to simultaneously create new
corporate and product identities, an extensive Web site, an interactive product
demo, sales literature, a corporate capabilities brochure, an analyst and
publicity campaign, trade show graphics and a marketing plan for 2003. The marketing and public
relations launch orchestrated for IronRhino was coordinated by John Rasco, the
founder of Brand X Austin, working as a virtual marketing VP for IronRhino.
Based on his assessment of the top talent for each component, the resources
brought in included Blanc and Otus’ (formerly SocketPR) Austin office for
press and analyst relations, Kelley Toombs Design for graphic design,
Kern&Co. for web and interactive design, Joe Leguenec for content
development, Paula Wells of InkWells for scriptwriting on the Flash-based sales
demo, Tom Parish of 4WebResults on search engine optimization, and Scot Gentry
for photography. Brand management, web content, marketing and media planning
were done by Brand X Austin. Ron Cowan of The Cowan Group was also retained by
IronRhino for product marketing and trade show management. The Web site and press/analyst
campaign were both launched to coincide with two trade shows opening on February
10. Sales collateral, sales presentations, prospect giveaways and booth graphics
support the trade shows, and lead generation, fulfillment and e-marketing
programs support the Web site. IronRhino uses regional business development
managers, who will benefit from direct marketing, advertising and promotion
through the year. Budget for the year’s marketing program was not disclosed. “Working with Brand X Austin
was like adding a staff of 20 people,” according to Cal Axtell, President of
IronRhino. “We had a 90-day launch plan and the work accomplished in that time
is remarkable. Like any startup, we had a tight budget with big ambitions, and
they helped us decide where, when and why we should invest. John Rasco has
literally become part of our team, working right alongside our sales people to
build a selling system.” “A focused client and an
experienced sales team make all the difference,” said John Rasco, CEO of Brand
X Austin. “Our goal for marketing activity is to funnel directly into sales
activity. Only by working closely with a client over time can you simultaneously
talk to customers, field sales, developers and operations. Telling your story
has to be done in a way that makes a difference, and IronRhino has a great team
that has been willing to bring us in as a partner—from brand image to product
positioning to talking to the press. To make a local company look like a
national powerhouse, it takes every marketing tool speaking with one voice.” IronRhino’s Asset Information Manager Plus system
provides an easy-to-use and cost-effective way for managers to optimize their
operations by providing a 360-degree view of mobile or remote equipment,
integrating legacy and operating data from systems scattered across the
organization. By capturing the true historic cost of ownership along with usage
information from day-to-day operations, IronRhino’s solutions identify areas
of immediate savings and provide quick ROI opportunities. IronRhino is a
Microsoft-certified partner; the application utilizes the .NET architecture for
a 100% Web-based solution. About
